Hello? Hey, I'm Glad You Called. Can I Borrow Some Money?

There's nothing all that special aboutthis story,but I chuckle every time I read it and it happened locally so I figure that counts for something. Plus I have a mental picture of a person who thinks that he's more important than the rest of the world and it's nice to see folks like that get $480 of what they deserve now and then, so it's got that going for it too.

The 23-year-old Guelph man was stopped at the corner of the Hanlon Expressway and Wellington Road West just after 4 p. m. on April 4 after he failed to stop at a red light. After issuing a $325 ticket for that offence, the officer turned to walk back to his car and overheard the driver’s cellphone ring, a news release said.

The officer then observed the driver answer the phone, put his car in drive and drive off.

After following the driver a short distance, the officer pulled him over again and issued a second ticket of $155 for driving while using a hand-held communication device.

A tiny part of me hopes that homeboy tries to fight this so I can have the follow-up story where he explains how one comes to have one's head that far up one's ass and how running a busy intersection then taking a call and driving off while the cop is still in view is not his fault, but if given the choice, my vote would have to go to him going away perhaps forever so that the needle on the town doucheometer can drop just a wee bit.
