The Poster Hunt Continues
So here's an update on the most boring of topics - but don't worry - there's a reason for it.
Steve's suggestion of InterPunk was a bit of a bust. They had some alright stuff - but not enough. So I went to A-F Records website (Anti-Flag's label, and we all know how I feel about Anti-Flag) and checked their merch section. You could get 5 posters, plus a tube to save them from crinkling in the USPS for about 15 bucks. So I did that. I got some cool ones. I'm going to check out Epitaph's website next. If I can get my walls covered with only 2 shipping/handling charges, I'll consider my mission a successful one. And Epitaph is loaded with good bands - we'll just have to see if their loaded with posters for those bands. Anywho...
On the A-F website there was some pretty neat ones and one that disturbed my cousin and I pretty badly.
Not many are farmiliar with the band Pipedown I'm sure - but they're a pretty solid punk band that sing about all kinds of politics and religion and peace and such things and actually have some pretty good tunes. I'd definitely recommend them. But this poster was pretty out there. It takes you a second to figure out exactly what you're looking at. But as your eyes begin to focus, you realize you're staring at a cross. As your continue to be able to focus on this you realize you're staring at a cross built up of... corpses. That's right. Just a huge stack of dead bodies forming up the Holy Cross.
Now I'm not one to get offended by this kinda stuff, and to be honest, I totally dig the symbolism - but the brutality of this thing was absolutely crazy. While I like the band, and thought the concept was neat, I didn't buy the poster. Not that I have that many hardcore Christian friends (go figure eh?) but I do have enough respect for people who worship in their own way to not be hanging this in a room where I may be entertaining at some point.
Still, though, I thought it worth mentioning. The stuff people can come up with. Crazy.

It's Just So Pink
Good Sunday Afternoon Kids,
Before we start. Regarding what Steve posted about my e-mail not working on the comment board. I e-mailed you asking for you to send me something to see if it had been rectified and have received nothing. So either my outgoing e-mail isn't working either or you did and my account is still fucked up. There is the off chance that you're a record sized douche and chose not to help a guy out - but I'm hoping that one's not the case.
Onwards!
I'm 2 weeks away from moving in to my new house with some friends. I'm pretty excited. They've already lived there for a year and 2 people moved out at the end of last school year opening two rooms. One was not a real bedroom. It used to be the dining room (but let's face it, we're not going to use that) so it was turned in to a bedroom with a little drywall closing off the opening from it to the living room. So it's not a true wall and keeps NO sound out at all when the party is in the living room. So I passed on that one and took the other, slightly smaller room. Dilemma. It's walls are pink.
It's not like a bright florescent pink that glows or anything - but pink nonetheless. Jokes all around I'm sure, but it beats not being able to sleep while people are watching TV and such.
So I plan to absolutely paste this room with posters. It won't hide all the pink, but may at least draw some attention away from it - and if nothing else - keep me sane.
So I already have a few posters of bands that I like that either were handed out at concerts or came in the CD's or that I saw when out and about. But I'm in to alot of underground stuff and it's very hard to find posters for the bands I like.
My friend went nuts with posters in his room and recommended AllPosters.com. It's not terrible for sports and mainstream music and stuff. But very little punk. Unless you consider Good Charlotte and the like to be punk. Unfortunately, I don't.
So there is the option of going to each individual band's websites and ordering them individually and paying out the ass for shipping and stuff - but that's not a great option.
So I figured I'd throw this up on the off chance that someone here knows of a good site for punk rock posters. Stuff like Anti-Flag, Rancid, Pennywise, Bad Religion and things like that.
This is almost certainly a futile attempt - but one that had to made. It's pink people. Help me out here.

VC Solves American Immigration Problems
It's not that hard for the USA to solve their immigration problem that has been in the news about Mexicans crossing the border illegally. Just allow all the Mexicans in that want to come but force them all to join the army. Then invade Mexico and take it over and not have any exit strategy. Luckily I have one, now. See ya.
Snakes on a Plane
You've gotta be kidding me. We've sunk to this level? This is all we can come up with to scare people these days? Absolutely brutal. And what an original title. "Hey what's your new movie about, Mr Jackson?" "some snakes on a plane." "Wow sounds interesting - what's it called?" "Snakes on a Plane". Just wonderful.
But we all know how Hollywood works and for the next year w'll be getting variations on this if it makes any money.
Like this Fall's blockbuster "Bee in my Car". And we all know Samuel L Jackson's enjoyment of over-acting and his tendency to over-use the term "motherfucker". "There's a motherfucking bee - in my mother fucking car! How am I supposed to drive?" "There's a mother fucking possom in the bank. These mother fucking possom's ain't even pretending to be asleep - they ain't playing mother fucking possom!"
"There's a mother fucking 'coon in the mother fucking prison". Wait. I guess that's not so obsurd. Maybe "There's mother fucking 'coons in the mother fucking library!" Ya that's better.
And look out for next summer's big money maker, starring Mel Gibson "there's mother fucking Jews - in my mother fucking country!"

Man Do I Ever Hate The Media
So yesterday the news networks were in full vulture mode over more terror related flight news. Sort of.
Round the clock coverage with BREAKING NEWS updates and all kinds of shit to scare the hell out of the world.
At some point yesterday somehow news broke that a plane from England bound for Washington DC was being diverted because of an emergency to Boston. And here is what was reported NATION WIDE as the story.
The plane was sitting on the runway in Boston. All the passengers were unloaded from the plane and hurded in to one area still on the runway. These potential terrorists couldn't even be taken up to the terminal.
The reason? Somehow someone had gotten on the plane with a tube of vascoline, a screw driver, some matches and 2 notes, one of which was written in Arabic and mentioned El Quada. After everything that happened last week, if this was the case then there was every reason for panic.
HOWEVER!
This turned out to NOT, in fact, be the case. The REAL story turned out to be that an ELDERLY WOMAN was having a panic attack in the plane! The flight staff could not calm the woman down and felt it was safer for her and everyone else to land the plane to get the situation under control.
That tidbit came out this morning. Now you would assume that all these honest and honourable news stations would rush to clarify everything today and tell us what really happened. Unfortunately, that's not part of the agenda of these organizations.
There has been NEXT TO KNOW mention of this situation. This after it being all that was talked about on the 24 hour news stations yesterday afternoon. The only acknowledgement came from a 20 second clip making it sound like a completely different incident, basically mentioned in passing when listing off headlines.
You would think that after having it on all day yesterday, it would warrant more of a clear up than that. But hey. What do I know about the news - all I know is being honest, I guess. Maybe I'll never make it in the media.

This Big Ramsey Murder Thing
So John Karr has been arrested in Thailand for the murder of a young girl. He's also been accused of sexually abusing the young girl in Boulder, Colorado. He was formerly a 2nd Grade Teacher there but was relieved of his teaching duties when his computer was found full of child pornography. My question is, why wasn't he arrested at that time instead of just relieved of his teaching duties?
More importantly. How did he get out of the country? Especially to Thailand because all know what's in Thailand.
I mean should he not have been stopped at the airport on the way out when they saw where his ticket was taking him and in his luggage was only 2 laptop's and a bag of lollypop's?

It's Gonna Happen...
Jesus Christ! Click that fucking pen again... I dare you!
Jeez!
Today might be the day I finally LOSE it at this job.
PS. Shawn Lennon's new single SUCKS! Pretty clear music is not genetic - from the way his voice sounds - it's entirely possible that Yoko was sucking on his balls while singing this.

Quality Time
You know you need new ideas for things to do with your kid when robbing someone looks like a good option. I don't know what else to say except this woman needs help.

It's Just Wrong
Alright, girls. So you know how most of you all have that one guy friend who's a great guy? And who you really like and spend lots of time with... but you won't date him? Ya. That's WRONG! Because you see, if that guy is spending time with you - it means he likes you. I mean... really. Why else would he be so willing to put up with your... talking? Honestly. If a guy talks to you for more than like 10 minutes - it means he's probably in to you. He's putting in Quality time in the hopes that after all that time of putting in the Q.T. it may lead to the Booty. Meanwhile - you never have that intention.
You know what that's like to a guy? That's like him going in for a job interview and having the employer say "Wow - that's a great resume! This is just great. You have everything we're looking for, all the experience we want - you're just perfect. But ya... we're not going to hire you. We'll probably hire someone with half your qualifications and that has a drinking problem. But wow this is a great resume. In fact we'll keep this resume and use it to grade all other potential employees against it. Now um, I have a question. We won't ever, under any circumstance, hire you - but is it okay if we call you from time to time to complain to you about the guy we do hire? Cuz you're just great."
It's wrong! Cut it out!

A Strange Thought From A Strange Mind
Is it just me, or does Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young sound like one of those scuzzy law firms you see on daytime television?

Scarey Shit
So I"m sure most of you have heard about the foiled terror plot from the U.K. and U.S.A.
I'll be the first to say I guess I'm a little too jaded sometimes. I was never shy about saying that these raised levels of security and new Terrorist prevention organizations were just a huge waste of time and that there are 6 billion people on the planet so there's no way to know who's going to attack you and when. That these were just a tremendous waste of money and did nothing but scare the public.
I'll shut my mouth today. In the last 2 months, 2 large terrorist plots have been foiled. One here in the Toronto area and this most recent one today involving these flights. I'll tip my hat to whoever was tracking this and was able to stop it, as apparently it would have been much larger than 9/11 in terms of loss of life as they aimed to blow up flights heading to major airports in California, New York and Washington D.C.
I'll say this. It's a scarey fucking world and it's not getting any more pleasant.
Take Care

Um...ok?
Wow! This comment tops all I think. As Matt would say, Offside!
This was under the six other comments about James Blunt, which subsequently degenerated. Who knew it would sink to this?
I love a good hardon impaling my arsehole .
Does anyone else ?
The best part is the hot cream filling my insides .
Do feel to write me .
I am not gay but I still do it .
Am I wrong ?
Hardon Ricky | 08.08.06 - 11:33 pm |
Is this person seeking advice? Or is he the long-searched for man who has been on the long search for Randy Orton's penis?

Nothing Else To Do
Well got nothing else to do - so here's randomness.
That awful new Paris Hilton song is stuck in my head. If you haven't heard it, don't. Just believe me it's awful. Man I like some gay shit lately.
My 8 year old cousin won second prize at the Harcourt Park Olympics at my cottage in swimming. She kicks ass.
The Jays are done. They went in the tank for over a week and ended playoff hopes. How sure am I? I've never been lucky enough to go to a Jays playoff game live - and I've always wanted to but they haven't made it in 13 years. If they do this - I promise not to go watch which will kill me. That's how sure I am.
Opie and Anthony are hilarious. I have XM Satellite Radio and a new perk is that you can listen online which is great for me at work. If you have the means, either on XM (channel 202) or if they're sindicated on one of your local stations - listen. It's great.
ECW comes to Canadian TV this week. Friday night - Midnight. Global. Good main event for the debut with Kurt Angle v Sabu. Watch.
3 and a half work weeks left until it's move in day to the new place and then back to school. You can not believe how I'm counting the days.
Steve blew me off for the long weekend and then did nothing. I hope some sort of angry sharp toothed animal does something to some sensitive part of his anatomy in the fairly near future.
Well that only helped me kil like 5 minutes - you people aren't good for anything.
Aw that was mean - it's not your fault. Except Steve whom I hope .... well read above.

A Small Apology.
Well, I don't like having to take back my words, but I think I sort of have to at least soften them this time. In my thought shake post, I got mad at a friend for not seeming to show much compassion for her sick relative that she was taking care of. I thought I'd heard the whole story. But I heard a little more yesterday, and now I sort of understand why she was so snippy about the whole thing. So, I'm sorry for ranting like a crazy thing about that. That is all. Hopefully I'll have something more interesting later.
What's a Bed and Breakfest?
I saw something that wouldn't bug me much if I'd seen it anywhere but where I saw it. I saw a typo. Someone had written breakfest instead of breakfast. No biggy. Everybody makes a mistake sometimes. But where did I see it? On the main page of the newspaper's website!
To me, this is huge. First, I remember catching six different kinds of hell when I was in school and made the occasional spelling booboo or typo. I appreciated the correction, but I sure didn't appreciate the piles of bullshit about "You need to not make sloppy spelling mistakes if you want to work anywhere." So how can someone who puts together a newspaper's website get away with errors?
It especially bugs me when I see errors in a newspaper, because some people tell their kids to look at the newspaper as an example of how to write. It's kind of the same level of annoyance as when I see typos in a textbook. I mean, come on, breakfest? Even a spellchecker could catch that one.
I wrote their web team, let's see if they fix it.

Rub One Out For Research
Charity wants people to lend a hand...
The most striking part of this story to me isn't that they're holding a masturbate-a-thon, I've heard about a few of those before. What really gets me about this is that the event is being put on with the help of an HIV charity, and the article says that "Participants, who have to be over 18, can bring any aids they need." That's just so wrong on so many levels.

You Pay? We'll Pray!
I so should be in advertising. That was a perfect slogan for these bottom-feeding sacks of shit I'm about to describe.
I just learned something. I learned that there's a company out there that, for a fee, will sign the person paying the fee up with someone who will pray for them. Doesn't that scream scum to you? To me, it screams scum on so many levels.
On the first level, the person sends money on the *hope* that someone will pray for them. This prayer partner as they call it doesn't know the customer from Adam. They're just given their name and told to pray for them, and that is what happens if the company is being honest. They could easily just fuck off with someone's money, tell them someone prayed for them when no one did anything of the sort.
Second, isn't the point of praying, for those who believe in that sort of thing, supposed to be done out of genuine care and concern for someone? Say a minister asks his congregation to pray for someone who is sick. Or, a family member prays for someone going through a hard time. It's not supposed to be something bought and paid for. It's like paying to be told good things about yourself. It's insincere.
Finally, what kind of praying is being done here? Praying for, or preying on? Who would this kind of service appeal to? Probably people who are feeling low and desperate, people who have few friends, lonely people looking for some sort of sign that someone might care, and sadly enough, poor people. I hate to generalize, but some people who are struggling with money might be pretty desperate. So these scum-suckers are taking more money from them that could be better spent on food and necessities of life.
I can hear it now. "But churches ask for money. Are they no good either?" I can understand churches asking for money, to a point. The church still has to be heated. They might have functions to run. If they starte asking for a lot of money, then yeah, they've fallen into the pile of sludge in bottom-feederville.
I hear something else from the peanut gallery. "What about therapy? You're not getting anything solid from that either, and you're essentially paying to have someone help you, which could mean saying good things about you. Plus, a lot of poor people need counseling." Again, there are some therapists and counselors that take advantage of vulnerable people, and they are an especially dangerous kind of leech. But if you need one, and you get a good one, they can do a world of good. Plus, they may know of other things that may help you, so they're a resource. As far as the money stuff goes, there are places to go that have sliding scales, and if you do manage to have some kind of health insurance, it will often cover it. Also, counseling isn't all about buttering you up and saying meaningless, insincere things. It's about listening to you, being an objective person to bounce things off of, and giving you perspective on your own thoughts. That is something you can get your head around. It's not something nebulous like telling someone to pray for you if you pay the right amount of money.
So, at the end of the day, I wonder if these prayer partner people feel the least bit disgusted at what they take part in to earn a living. Or have they had the soul sucked out of them as a prerequisite for working there? I guess they wouldn't want to have it left over to find out if there is or isn't a god when they die. Something tells me, if there is a heaven, St. Peter would slam the pearly gates in their faces.

Oh...my...God!
There is no better title for this. I will keep my blabber to a minimum, and let our friendly neighbourhood idiot from the previous post speak for himself. I'm going to paste a story from the Guelph Mercury, and, after I'm done convulsing with laughter, I will leave my thoughts in bold.
Activist charged with mischief, days after last charges
GUELPH (Aug 5, 2006)
A well-known Guelph activist faces three more charges of mischief after police found two people spray-painting the words "eco-terrorist" in and around the downtown Thursday, Guelph Police said.
Sound familiar? It will very soon.
Two days earlier, Matthew Soltys, 23, was charged with mischief under $5,000 after police found a man spray-painting with a similar stencil.
Soltys, a former member of the Mercury's community editorial board, said only, "I look forward to being found not guilty on all counts," in an e-mail to the Mercury.
He was a member of the Mercury staff? I'm sure that makes a few people hang their heads in shame. And he looks forward to being found not guilty? How does he hope to have that fantasy come true, because, wait for it...
Guelph Police say police saw two people spray-painting the railing of the Wyndham Street bridge with red paint just before 9 p.m. Thursday. Under the rail was an image of a front-end loader and the words "eco terrorist."
Police then watched them spray-paint similar graffiti on a door at 83 Neeve St., a former textile mill that now houses condominiums.
Police arrested them shortly after they spray-painted similar graffiti on the Heffernan Street footbridge. They had cans of spray paint at the time of their arrest, police said.
Busted!
Soltys was charged with three counts of mischief, and an additional charge of failing to comply with conditions related to his Aug. 1 arrest.
Bryn Hobbs, a 24-year-old woman, was also charged with three counts of mischief.
All I have to say is, dude, know when you've been beaten. And...you're an idiot.

Eco-satire?
Does anybody remember my rants about stupid activism? The kind where people just do stuff with no clear sense of why they're doing it? The kind where nothing productive happens, just a lot of noise and arrests? Well here's another example, and it makes my head spin from beginning to end.
A local activist, Matthew Soltys, was arrested for spray painting a stencilled image on a wall of an affordable housing building downtown and having a stencil of the words "eco-terrorist" with him. He's known for his strong environmentalist stance, and hosts a show on CFRU about it. When asked by the paper about the graffiti, he said he would consider it satire.
Ok, let the head-spinning begin. If you're a big environmental activist, and you're also into being concerned for the poor as he seems to be from the kinds of things written on a website he is affiliated with, why in the good holy christ would you choose an affordable housing building to vandalize? Second, if you're so concerned about the environment that you would put your own neck on the line, why would you choose a spray can, an aerosol can that puts noxious fumes into the atmosphere, as the instrument to spread your message? Third, he says it's satirical. I don't care if he wrote the funniest joke known to man or the most brilliant piece of writing ever to have been created. It's still vandalism! he still did it without permission on someone else's property. If he wants to write satire, he already writes for a website, that would be a perfectly good place to write it. Or, he could start up his own website. He has the technology. And no trees will be harmed in its writing, unless someone decides to print something off. But at least then he won't be causing the damage himself. Finally, does he really think his message will be received as satire, considering how many fires have been set locally by eco-terrorist groups? Can he really be surprised, if he's paid attention at all in the last year to what's been happening in his own town? Oh yeah, that's not part of the activist's job. They just do stuff because they feel driven to do it. Do you see why this kind of activism bugs me?
Has your head stopped spinning yet? Mine has, and it's stopped on the conclusion that this man is an idiot.
